Bat City is always working on bridging the gap between Seattle’s alternative dark communities. Our mission is to cross alternative genres, come together to mobilize our artist, producers, and fans to create an unstoppable, recognizable, alternative community in Seattle. We want to see an all encompassing alternative scene that allows us to support our artists and our venues on a scale that demands attention.
Seattle’s favorite deathly duo are now a part of forever! Some film students from Seattle University saw fit to make a short documentary about our little shop and did a fine job of making us look more human than we otherwise might! It’s a quick watch and they did an absolutely perfect job of capturing the joy of death that we feel every day here at Nevertold! Long live the cinema!
Tomorrow night at Vermillion on Capitol Hill, the voices of four poets and your friendly neighborhood ghoul will ring out! Our own Jackson Bennett will be reading some anecdotes from his book in progress on the history of grave robbing and enlightening you to the finer points of disturbing the dead along with Sonya Vatomsky, Zachary Cosby, Shy Watson and Jon-Michael Frank reading actual and real poetry! Come on down, you can’t lose.
Danger! Tread lightly but have no fear, it’s only the sky falling after all. Our building is getting a new roof but we’re still here noon to 7pm as always! And look on the bright side, if a roofer falls on you, we’re here to build you and him fine caskets to be buried in. Come cheat death and get curious!
The variance of the inner workings of the human head! A thing we at Nevertold never could tire of. This skull is, unmarked but was a Clay Adams preparation according to the Doctor from which it was purchased. Ever wonder how your teeth are hooked up? Or what the inner working of your sinus cavity or ear are all about? This smiler has conveniently hinged cutaways to answer all your burning questions without the need for self surgery! It is one of the nicest examples of this type of preparation that we have seen and comes with a carrying case for an evening out on the town!
Our Caracal found the perfect new owner! We love bringing spirit animals together.
Another happy customer! Nima was kind enough to share this amazing portrait with a doll he acquired from Nevertold recently. We think they make a handsome pair.
“Moulage” is the art of applying mock injuries for the purpose of medical education. The practice dates to at least the Renaissance, when wax figures were used for this purpose. This little wax moulage baby displays the effects of Syphilis on the human body. He’s a beautiful work of art to behold. Now up for adoption at Nevertold! Open noon – 7pm today and tomorrow.
Feeling a little crazy? There’s nothing so comforting as a hug… A perpetual, inescapable, forced, self-hug! And no better way to do that a nice, comfy and very stylish straight jacket. This particular model came to us from the Pueblo Colorado State Mental Hospital And was in use from the 1950’s through the late 70’s. It seems to be a size small/medium and with thick leather straps and a heavy canvas body, you may never want to take it off… Which is convenient because you won’t be able to.
We introduced BoBo to our Tibeten monkey skull Kapala today, and they appear to be getting along nicely.
